The Loop Knit Beanie

A black beanie in a soft loop knit with a faint ribbed stripe running through it. Slouchy rather than close-fitting.

Fabric: 100% alpaca. No blend, no synthetic.
Care: Hand wash cold with mild detergent. Reshape while wet and lay flat to dry. Not one for the machine.

Measurements

One size, unisex. Our supplier publishes no dimensions, and we are not going to invent them. Ask before you order if head circumference is the thing that usually decides it for you and we will measure one. The loop knit has considerable stretch, which is why it is sold in a single size.

Where it comes from: Hand-knitted by Allpa, a network of eighty workshops across Peru that trains weavers and lends to them so they can run their own businesses. Alpaca is warmer than lamb’s wool, softer than cashmere, and the animals are not harmed in shearing.

Fit note: Worth knowing: this is the pure-alpaca one and it costs the same as our grey Alpaca Beanie, which is a 70% blend. Pure alpaca is softer; the blend is more resistant to pilling. Neither is the better buy — it depends whether you want it to feel lovely or last longer.
