The Alpaca Beanie
A slouchy grey beanie, hand-knitted in Peru. Wear it pulled down or scrunched back; it behaves either way.
Fabric: 70% baby alpaca, 23% polyamide, 7% wool. The polyamide is there for durability — it is what stops a soft fibre like this pilling after a season.
Care: Hand wash cold with mild detergent. Reshape while wet and lay flat to dry. Not one for the machine.
Measurements
One size, unisex. Our supplier publishes no dimensions for this piece, and rather than estimate them we will say plainly that we do not have them. If head circumference matters to you before you order, ask and we will measure one. Alpaca knit has a lot of give, which is why it is sold in a single size.
Where it comes from: Made on a hand-knitting machine by Allpa, a network of eighty small workshops across Peru that trains weavers and lends to them so they can run their own businesses. Alpaca is warmer than lamb’s wool and softer than cashmere, and the animals are not harmed in shearing.
Fit note: If you want pure fibre rather than a blend, our Loop Knit Beanie is 100% alpaca and costs the same. This one is the more hard-wearing of the two; that one is the softer.
